My wife has drinking and drug dependency issues not to mention other mental issues?

I am thinking about having her committed. She has even put a gun to her head and chest on various occasions over the years threatening suicide. Her first husband and his family had her committed too about 15 years ago. She escaped with another inmate who she shacked up with and never went back to her husband and so lost custody of her children. I am worried she will end up homeless again like when I found her after the 5 year relationship with the last guy fell apart. We have been together for the last ten years.
