I want to sue a hospital for negligence or ault regarding a theft?

My mother was in the hospital near her death from alzheimer's. Three days before she died someone removed her wedding band. The hospital knew she had the ring on because on the night she was admitted she lost control when we tried to remove it and the nurse on duty suggested we leave it on and had me sign a paper stating they new the ring was on her. A few nights later we tried to get it off her finger but couldn't she was so swollen we didn't want to hurt her. The next day it went missing. We believe this was an ault as well as a theft. We did file a police report and gave the hospital 2 months to make this right and we have yet to hear from them.My mother had to be buried without her wedding band the one thing she made us promise we would do. Do we have have a case? What kind of attorney do we hire?
